Legacy of Bob Hofmeister
A Legend Has Passed
His Legacy Will Live Forever Within These Walls
Hofmeister, Robert W. "Bob"1917-2008
"Motorcycling is the magic carpet to the fountain of youth." For those of you who had the opportunity to meet Bob, you knew after only a couple stories Bob had probably forgotten more motorcycle history than most people will ever know!!
Bob has served the motorcycle community for over 30 years, starting in 1977 when Bob Hofmeister became the owner of Faribault Harley-Davidson®, but that is only a small part of his motorcycling history. Bob rode Motorcycles for more than 75 years. From his first bike, a 1922 JD model Harley-Davidson®, to his last bike, the famous 1992 FLHTP, with Sidecar, Bob has always owned Harley-Davidson® motorcycles.
Not all of the miles Bob put on came from the road, he was always one of the top competitors in the dirt. Bob has been regarded as one of the best motorcycle racers of his time. Riding everything from Flat Track to Hill Climbers.
In June 2007 the Motor company decided to set aside a day just for Bob. As recognized by the Motor Company's Corporate Archives, June 16Th is "BOB HOFMEISTER DAY".
It is fair to say that Bob has had a huge impact on all of us, probably more than we will ever know, whether it was providing a place to make our Harley® dreams a reality or a place to work, Bob will be missed but fondly remembered and his legacy will live forever within these walls.
